Faith vs Feelings

So my man and I have been together for close to 8 months now, there is an 11 year age difference between us. Him being older. He grew up in a very religious house hold as in 'The Church of Christ" as I grew up Catholic. We live together, but he keeps that fact from his family who he's close with only for the sake of his chidren. Because we're not married 'yet' and they wouldn't approve. Do I make a fuss over this or just let it go and choose my battles.. this not being one of them??
